Investigating The Undertaker's "Vegetative" State: A List of Suspects

Time to make a full disclosure; I haven't been updating the wrestling portion of the site, as much as I used to, because the product itself is not good. I know ratings have gone up recently (they came down after this Monday) because of the NXT or Nexus Invasion angle, but I really can't get excited for an angle like that after the completely unjust firing of Brian Danielson. With the exception of that particular angle, it's been a pretty boring month for the WWE, and that's reflected in my coverage of it.

Also from a more pragmatic standpoint, the wrestling articles on Vintage Blogs! don't get as many views as the articles relating to Game of Thrones. Consequently, I have had to adjust my priorities a bit when it comes to coverage of wrestling on this blog. I will keep on posting articles on wrestling, but if the Game of Thrones articles keep on getting better numbers then I need to concentrate more on them. It's just being pragmatic, because ultimately I want my blog to be as successful as possible. If you are a fan, then you can help improve the numbers by suggesting it someone else who might enjoy Vintage Blogs!

Investigating The Undertaker's "Vegetative" State: A List of Suspects
Enough of that, now it's time to move on why you people came to read this in the first place some: good ole' wrasssssssling. Though, I haven't been putting up Smackdown reviews regularly, I still do watch the show and I have been closely watching this Undertaker Vegetative Storyline pretty closely since it makes Kane relevant again and they have done a nice job of running the storyline parallel to the World Heavyweight Championship picture. However, while following this, I was struck by the fact that Kane was the chief investigator.

If you been following wrestling for a while (like me) or just like watching old wrestling then you should understand why I'm so hesitant in believing Kane's sincerity towards finding the perpetrator behind Undertaker's current predicament. If you aren't familiar then as you watch this, I hope you keep in mind that this is the same Kane that fought Taker in an Inferno Match, and was dead set on burning him... alive. If that wasn't enough, recall when he tried burying him alive..... then totally mocked Taker in the eulogy he delivered.

Looking at Kane's dubious history with the Deadman, he doesn't seem like the best candidate to get to bottom of this mystery, which is why we (that means I, since John is probably sitting in some jail cell charged with statutory rape) at Vintage Blogs have taken it upon ourselves to investigate what exactly happened to The Phenom. In preparation for this investigation, I have done diligent research (I have Watched the Wire, and several others TV shows that highlight investigative skills, I have gone through countless Youtube videos, and read several Wikipedia pages in our investigation, I have even heard 580th hand accounts which includes the guy selling Water Ice, for $4.50, at the Wachovia Center). I believe that makes me more qualified than Kane or the FIC to conduct the investigation of just who was behind the heinous attack on The Undertaker

Suspect - Michelle McCool
The Case For Her - Clearly, this disturbing act was carried out by someone close to the Deadman, and who is closer to him than the whore err Diva he is currently banging. Need more proof? Just look at the lyrics of her theme song

"You're not enough for me. (Oh no no) Just another man in love with me. (Just another man, ooh) Gotta open up your eyes and see. (hey hey, Oh well) You're not enough for me. (oh no)"

Poor Taker, he was never able to open up his and eyes and see that this harlot needed more. than one man. One has to wonder about the nature of her mentor relationship with Kaval. If Taker wasn't enough for her, did she find solace in the arms of the artist formerly known as Senshi. Did she recruit him into her plot? Behind that smile lies a devious mind (How else would she be employed even after stealing every others wrestlers' moves) and we wouldn't put it past her to put The Deadman out of commission if he couldn't get it done in the sack.

The Case Against Her - She is a whore...... Damnit Diva, and they are about as useful as nipples on a man. There is no way she has any major role in a major angle.

The Verdict - Here is what Steam (from Wackbag) had to say on what McCool would teach to her NXT rookie Kaval "First thing you do, hunt down the most overrated wrestler of this and the previous generation, make sure he still has political clout, time it so he's just coming back from one of his numerous vacations, suck his cock, finger his anus, and take his heinous sperm down your throat. You'll be pushed in no time and then you'll be allowed to criticize the work of wrestlers much better than you." Apart from the part where he hates on Taker, I agree with Steam. McCool knows that Taker is her meal ticket and she wouldn't jeopardize her position in the company by taking out Taker. Besides, the bitch don't have no super powers to take out the Deadman.

Suspect - Shawn Michaels
The Case For Him - First of, this gets filed under the Dark Horse category. Second, if there is anyone who has more motivation to permanently end the Deadman's career, we had like to meet them. Perhaps, retirement didn't suit The Heartbreak kid so well, after all this is the same man who constantly needs to steal the spotlight. What better way to waltz back into the limelight than taking out the man who ended out your career? This could all be leading up to Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania 27.

The Case Against Him - The more that time passes, the less we hear from or about Michaels and that leads me to believe Michaels when he said he was done for good. I'm sure he might make an appearance here or there, but I don't foresee him being involved in any sort of major angle.

The Verdict - It's a good theory, but I don't see Michaels pulling a Ric Flair and coming out of retirement within the year. At least, I hope he doesn't even if Career vs Career between Shawn Michaels and Undertaker at Wrestlemania 27 sounds like a good idea.

Suspect - NXT 7 or Nexus
The Case for Them - If you have watched WWE programming recently, you know about these guys,. They have attacked John Cena, Vince McMahon and brawled with most of the Raw roster. While they keep on doing the same thing over and over again, these guys appear to be smart. Consequently, they understood that if they had any shot of succeeding in their nefarious plans to acquire WWE contracts, they would have to take out the man who could singlehandedly take out this collection of jobbers and one decent wrestlers. That's right, the Nexus knew that Undertaker would have put an end to their invasion, so they decided to take out Undertaker before their "Invasion" really started.

The Case Against Them - Yeah, no one gives a rat's ass about Smackdown not even the jobbers who could barely get a contract. They haven't made a single appearance on the Blue show and they have no plans to do so either. Also, The Nexus has attacked John Cena and Vince McMahon and done so in front of the entire world. if they had attacked The Undertaker, we have a hard time believing that they would be able to keep it to themselves.

The Verdict - If I hadn't come across a better suspect in our "diligent" research I might have believed that Nexus was responsible for The Phenom's current condition. However, these next two entries on the suspect list saves the the former rookies of NXT.

Suspect - CM Punk
The Case For Him - No one has as much to gain from an injury to Taker than the leader of the SES. Punk didn't have to face the Phenom when he fought for the World Heavyweight Championship at Fatal 4 Way. Furthermore, he gets to avenge his loss to the Deadman from Hell in a Cell. What makes the case against Punk even more damning.....Unlike McCool, the leader of the Straight Edge Society has the means at his disposal to permanently dispose of the Undertaker. The Phenom might have superpowers, but against enough manpower even the Deadman can falter. Punk commands a band of loyal troops in the SES, who are willing to do anything for him, and that includes taking on The Undertaker.

The Case Against Him - Though Punk has a history with The Undertaker, it's not nearly as personal for Punk to put The Undertaker in a vegetative state.

The Verdict - CM and the SES are one of the main suspects in this investigation. However, there is a better suspect even if Kane believes otherwise. Seriously though, Kane has to be worst investigator in history. He doesn't provide any proof or anything, he can just point at people and we are supposed to think they did it. Well, I demand proof!

Suspect #1 - Kane

Known Alias - Glen Jacobs
Relationship to Victim - Half Brother

The Case for Him - Kane might have fooled everyone else with his acting and crocodile tears, but he won't fool the investigative team here (especially after all that diligent research!) at Vintage Blogs! We are well aware of Kane's violent history with his half brother, and we also remember that this mentally unhinged individual possesses some sort of paranormal powers much like victim himself. Whilst the rest of the suspects on our list can claim no such "powers" Kane has demonstrated in the past that he had mastered these supernatural abilities which would allow him to put the man known as Undertake in a vegetative state. If that wasn't enough there is also the possible rekindling of the Kane/Undertaker. It could potentially go two ways: Kane challenges Mysterio and gets a second title reign out of it. Then Kane finally admits that he did it. Subsequently, the Undertaker begins to send messages from beyond the grave ala their feud leading up to WM XX. Finally, we get a showdown between the Kane and Undertaker at hell in a Cell. There is also a chance that there might be a third meeting at Wrestlemania 27 between these two. It's no secret that Taker is getting older and his injuries are beginning to nag him more and more, which leads me to believe that he may be retiring soon. It also isn't a secret that Taker a hard on for his streak, but it's been long rumored that he told Vince that he would let Kane beat him prior to retiring. If the Deadman is truly near the end of his illustrious career then there won't be a better opportunity than this.

The Case Against Him - Kane being revealed as the attacker would ultimately be disappointing but that when has that ever stopped the WWE.

The Verdict - I have very little doubt that Kane will ultimately be outed as the one who put Undertaker in his current"vegetative' state. Here is how I see it developing. Kane has been named as one of the participants in the Smackdown Money in the Bank match. We will probably see Kane being oh so close to grabbing onto the briefcase when suddenly the lights will go out, and you will hear the famous GONG! The Deadman will cost Kane a shot at the title and from there they will either meet in a Casket Match at Summerslam, or at Hell in a Cell at the PPV of the same name.

Game of Thrones: Casting Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish

Before I begin this post, I just want to say the author of Winter is Coming has already done something similar. However, our choices to play Littlefinger mostly differ, which is why I decided to do a post about who I would like to see play Lord Petyr Baelish. The devious man known as Littlefinger is perhaps my favorite character (competing with Jaime Lannister) from the entire series. In a series filled with nobles, who are entitled to their positions by their blood, it's refreshing to see lowly Petyr Baelish embark on a meteoric rise to power within the complex King's Landing political structure. Sure, his means and obsessions might be considered unsavory and creepy by many, but I think he is a brilliant character. Without getting into spoilers (for anyone who hasn't read up to book 4 yet) Littlefinger is a man who literally has nothing when he comes to King's Landing. By the time he leaves, the "the second most devious man in the Seven Kingdoms" (according to Varys) had become a major player in the Game of Thrones. He thrives on chaos, and ultimately wants to destroy the nobles and prove that he is better than them. And I find that admirable. With my liking of the character, and his significance to the overall story, the character of Littlefinger is extremely important, which is why HBO, David Benioff, Dan Weiss and Nina Gold need to pick an excellent actor to play the diabolical rags to riches story of Westeros. Another reason as to why, I'm doing this post now is because we will be getting more casting news (I believe) shortly, so I might not get this opportunity again until next season.

Quick summary of Littlefinger's character as A Wiki of Ice and Fire
Lord Petyr Baelish, called "Littlefinger," begins the series as Master of Coin (or treasurer) on the King's small council. He is also a master of court intrigue, with his brilliance matched only by his ambition. He is handsome and meticulously stylish, but also quite short, giving a double meaning to the mocking nickname Edmure Tully bestowed on him. Though a lord, his original holdings are possibly the smallest in all the Seven Kingdoms, situated on the smallest of the Fingers. His grandfather was Braavosi, and took the Titan of Braavos as his symbol. Few are aware of this; Baelish wears a mockingbird as his crest instead.
Let's begin!

Honorable Mentions - James Callis (just became a series regular on Eureka, so he won't be Littlefinger) and Gary Oldman (far too many movies lined up to even consider a TV series) were both considered, but I decided to go with these 6.

If you have watched the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds, then you can understand why I would suggest Waltz to play Littlefinger. For those of you who haven't (I tried really hard at to find the scene, but was unsuccessful) Waltz displays all the acting ability and mannerisms necessary to play Lord Baelish. In the scene, Waltz is questioning a man about potentially hiding Jews within his house knowing perfectly well that he is helping them hide. However, he plays along, makes the man comfortable and even cracks a few jokes during the questioning just to gain the man's trust. Having gained some semblance of trust, Waltz increases the tension and creepiness of his character and proceeds to calmly litter the entire house with bullets. In those few minutes, Waltz shows you that not only does he have the ability to play Littlefinger, but he would excel in such a role. Don't believe me? The Academy gave him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role. However, the Oscar might prove to be an issue as that cuts down the chances of him appearing in Game of Thrones. Perhaps, the prestige of being involved in an HBO show might be alluring but a glance at his IMDB page shows that Waltz just wrapped filming for the Green Hornet, and has a couple of more projects lined up, which makes his chances of appearing in Game of Thrones very slim.

The Verdict - He has the acting ability, comedic timing, creepiness, and mannerisms for Littlefinger down. Hell, he even looks a bit like him though he might be a bit too old (53). The latter isn't that much of an issue, but the Oscar winner's work schedule wouldn't allow him to commit to a television series for potentially 7 seven seasons in a supporting role even if it is an HBO production.

It's a well known fact that HBO likes to keep things incestous with their actors, which gives West and other HBO alums a very good shot at getting a part in the series if they chooses to do. West was the main character in what many consider to be the greatest TV show ever: HBO produced The Wire . Moreover, he was recently cast by Nina Gold (Casting Director for Thrones) in The Devil's Whore so she is obviously familiar with his work and abilities. Those of you haven't watched either one of those should check out 300, where West does a good job of playing the character of Theron (pictured above), whose ambition rivals that of Littlefinger. Having watched the Wire and 300, I think West is more than capable of handling Littlefinger, he can even pull of the look. His British accent, while being somewhat of a problem in The Wire, will be an advantage when it comes to Thrones. His height (6 feet) might be an issue but the producers have already shown that they are willing to veer from the book described heights of the character (I'm looking at you Mark Addy).

The Verdict - If West chose to audition for the role, I think there is a very high chance that he gets it. The only thing stopping him would be the commitment to star in another television series especially in a supporting role. Of course, he has nothing major lined up in the future, ( he recently wrapped up shooting for John Carter of Mars) so maybe he does go for the role.

Before, I get any farther, I just want everyone to know that I'm a huge fan of Dexter, so my opinion is a bit biased. Having said that, Hall would be my second choice (we will get to first in a while) to play Littlefinger. Both Dexter and Littlefinger hide in plain sight. They both come off as disarming, but in reality they are exceptionally cunning and manipulative. Both of them take advantage of the fact that their opponents underestimate them. As I was reading (I try to imagine what actors what would play certain characters) I thought Hall could easily pull off Littlefinger especially in the later books when the true extent of Littlefingers's deviousness is revealed. Hell, he might even get an Emmy out of it. Unfortunately, it would never be possible with Hall's commitment to Dexter. Furthermore, I highly doubt Showtime wants their poster boy to be a Supporting Actor on an HBO production even if Hall does have a previous relation with HBO through Six Feet Under.

The Verdict - Though, he would be perfect for the role (if he could pull off a British accent), there is a better chance of Sansa becoming an entertaining character than Hall playing Littlefinger. The shooting schedule would never match up and Showtime wouldn't allow it.

Michael Emerson

Emerson is quite the popular choice amongst fans to play Littlefinger and it looks as of it is actually quite possible, since Emerson has just finished with Lost and doesn't seem to have anything else he is working on at least that's what his IMDB page says. Honestly, that surprises the fuck out of me since Emerson won Emmys and universal praise for his portrayal of Benjamin Linus. You would think network executives, or directors would be lining up at his door to offer him a job. Maybe, the team behind Game of Thrones has already approached him him and thy are keeping ii under wraps as per HBO's desire. After all, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' corpse wasn't cold before HBO had signed Lena Headey to play Cersei Lannister. or maybe, Emerson is just busy pitching the TV show he and Terry O'Quinn were rumored to have come up with together. For the sake of extending this article, I'm going to go with the former and assume that Emerson could potentially be playing Littlefinger. First, that would be a fucking coup for HBO. Network executives, everywhere, are looking for the next Lost, and Game of Thrones has been brought up in that conversation. By getting the best actor and (arguably) most interesting character from the show, you would generate even more buzz for Game of Thrones. Buzz aside, it's not as if you are gettign a mediocre actor. Diabolical, Manipulative, and Creepy are often words used to describe Littlefinger. Well, Emerson has been doing a an excellent job of it for the past few years, and if he can master a British accent then I can only think of one or two actors who would be better suited to play Littlefinger.

The Verdict - Very much a possibility, since he doesn't seem to have anything else lined up. Emerson could do an amazing job with the role and would highlight the creepiness to Littlefinger. Emerson's acting talent would also allow the Master of Coin's dry wit and comic aspects to flourish. The only concern would be Emerson's age (55), but that can be ignored especially considering the benefits to acquiring Emerson.

If Emerson was one of the more popular choices then Gillen is one of the most logical choices to play Littlefinger. He has the prior relationship with HBO, and his agent even admitted to contacting the team behind Thrones to get Gillen some work in the series. The shooting will take place in Northern Ireland, which happens to be Gillen's home. All of these factors suggest some sort of involvement for the artist formerly known as Councilman Carcetti in Game of Thrones. What makes him a wonderful fit for Littlefinger is the ruthless ambition he displayed as Tommy Carcetti. Not only that, while watching the show, I actually believed that Tommy would actually fix Baltimore's problems even being familiar with the man's ambitious nature. A lot of that credit goes to Gillen's acting as he made the audience believe that he was the man for Baltimore. That kind of talent is going to come in quite handy if he gets cast to play Westeros' second most devious man. If you look at the picture above, you could totally see that smirk on Littlfinger's face as he sits in another one of the Small Council's meetings.

The Verdict - You don't break the bank on him, but he provides with you with a solid performance. Not only is Gillen a very talented actor, he is not well known, and that makes him perfect (From HBO's standpoint) for a supporting role like Littlefinger.

Look at that picture, it just screams Littlefinger. In a perfect world, Edward Norton would be playing Petyr Baelish, and he would do an absolutely stellar job with it. Unfortunately, we do not live in a perfect world, and Norton is far too big to grace the silver screen for a supporting role. He does have a connection with Nina Gold, since she was the Casting Director for The Illusionist, but I don't think it's going to come in handy when it comes to Norton.

The Verdict: He is one of the greatest actors of our generation, so a supporting role in a TV series will not appeal to him.

Update - I was right, we are set to get a casting announcement for Littlefinger soon. In the update announcing Dotrice's casting, Martin had this to say.
Meanwhile, casting continues. We're close on half a dozen other roles. Some of them may be hinted at here, others will be first announced on HBO's own GAME OF THRONES website, or through Mo Ryan, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, and the other entertainment media. Watch this space. Watch ALL those other spaces too, especially if you're a fan of Harper Lee.
Harper Lee is the guy who wrote the classic To Kill a Mockingbird. How does that tie into Game of Thrones casting? Littlefinger uses the mockingbird as his crest. I pray to sweet baby Jesus that they got a terrific actor for Baeliesh. I know guys like Waltz and Norton are just pipedreams, but a guy like Emerson or West shouldn't be out of the question.

Update #2 - Aiden Gillen is going to play Littlfinger.

Into the Wrestling Vault: Undertaker vs Stone Cold Steve Austin (WWF Championship)

Both Johnny C and I have made our hatred and dismay over the Linda McMahon induced PG-Era and overall state of wrestling well known. We firmly believe that wrestling was far better in the 90's and early 2000's. In fact, even the mid 2000's are much better than the horseshit that is shoved down our throats these days. Consequently, it's no surprise that I have burned countless number of hours looking up old matches, and promos on Youtube, Daily Motion, and the dozens of other websites which host wrestling videos. Now that I have turned myself into a fancy man (with my own blog) I figured to turn all those wasted hours into blog posts. So join me as I delve into the Wrestling Vault to relive my favorite videos.

First of, I just want to announce that I bought $30 tickets to Monday Night Raw with my friend (Kevin) . I feel a bit dirty paying $30 to see the likes of Cena and Sheamus. At least, Jericho and Edge will be there. Maybe, I will make a post about, since it seems that the wrestling section has been pretty empty for a while.

I know a lot of people don't like the Ministry of Darkness, but I was a fan especially before the Corporate Ministry. During that time, Taker feuded with guys like Austin and Rock. Smarks often accuse Taker of burying guys (at times it's justifiable) however during these feuds Taker was instrumental in making those seem like credible threats and even putting them over.

Grand Maester Pycelle is to be played by Roy Dotrice

Yesterday, GRRM mentioned a couple of clues on his blog about a potential casting.
The old maester has lived many lives, brief but numerous. In his youth he fought in the wars that some say inspired all of this. He has been a king and a god, but he'll always be daddy to me.
Now over on Winter is Coming, the commentators figured out those clues within 6 or 7 comments, since Roy Dotrice fought in World War II, played the father in Beauty and the Beast (a show that George used to write and produce for), played Zeus in Hercules (TV show), and King Balor in Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Today, the author of A Song of Ice and Fire series confirmed that the man who narrates the audiobooks to his series has officially been cast as Grand Maester Pycelle.

Martin mentions Dotrice's work on the audiobooks and his familiarity, which leads me to believe that he had a hand in this casting. Combined with his words on Dotrice's casting, I believe that GRRM might have exerted a bit of of that co-executive producer influence to get Dotrice involved in the show. Here is what George had to say on the casting.
Roy is an extraordinary talent who first took up acting in a prisoner of war camp during World War II, and has been working constantly ever since. Among his many, many roles was his portrayal of King Edward IV in the classic BBC production of THE WARS OF THE ROSES. He's also in the Guinness Book of World Records for his one-man show, the play BRIEF LIVES; most performances by an actor in a one-man show. (If you ever get a chance to see it, do. It's a great play, and Roy is wonderful). He played Zeus in HERCULES and XENA. But for me, of course, Roy will always be Father, the role he performed on BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, where I was a writer/ producer for three seasons.

Working with Roy Dotrice for those three years was a singular honor, and one of the highlights of my decade in Hollywood. He's the sort of actor who will take every line you write for him and make it better. Not to mention, he knows some great stories about Charles Laughton. He was my first and only choice as reader on the Ice & Fire audiobooks, and he has done an amazing job there as well... not simply reading the text, but acting it out, giving every character his or her own voice. He may be in Guinness for that as well: most voices by a single actor on an audiobook.

The moment the HBO project was given the go-ahead to film, we knew Roy had to be a part of it. The only question was which role. We ruled out Arya, Bran, Dany, and Tyrion, though he's done a great job with all of them on the audiobooks. Instead Roy will be playing Grand Maester Pycelle. It will be a real thrill to be working with him again, and I have no doubt that he will elevate every scene that he's in
Now, I'm not personally familiar with any of our new Pycelle's work, so I looked him up on Youtube. I found that the man is a pretty good actor and has some versatility to him as I saw him perform in a comedic role, pay a tough father, and even act as a coach. But you can judge for yourselves.

Another fan of the books gets cast, I'm telling you people, if you are a fan of the books, you might as well go out and audition or send a tape in. Why knows maybe you get cast too.

Don't forget to check out my piece on who should play Littlefinger , I was quite proud of it.

Into the Wrestling Vault: Shawn Michaels vs Mr. Perfect (Summerslam 1993)

Those of you who read the blog back in late March/early April might remember that "Shawn Michaels: A Retrospective" appeared in Future projects. John and I were both supposed to write it together. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, we were never able to get around to it. Part of it was poor planning on my part, I was 99.9% sure that HBK was set to retire at Wrestlemania, and we should have started writing the retrospective earlier, so we could immediately put it up once the Michaels Era came to an end. Part of the blame also falls on John, since he was supposed to write the biography (kayfabe and real life) section of the Retrospective, but he got busy and couldn't write it. With better planning and less procrastination, we should have been able to put up the Retrospective, but we didn't. Now, it's time to corrrrrrrrrect that mistake, and I will be doing it by posting great matches, promos, and moments from Shawn Michaels' legendary career. How long will this go on? Till I run out of material about The Heartbreak Kid, and that won't be for the foreseeable future. Michaels has contributed so many great memories to wrestling fans everywhere, I don't think a single (albeit massive one) wouldn't really have done him justice, so this might work out better in the long run.

After regaining his Intercontinental title from Marty Jannetty and beating him again, Michaels and his body guard, Diesel, turned their attention to the man, who had originally cost Michaels the Intercontinental Championship: Curt Hennig aka Mr. Perfect. These two had been feuding ever since Michaels attacked Hennig at Wrestlemania IX. The culmination of the feud was to be at Summerslam 1993, and expectations were very high for this match. Unfortunately, Hennig's back was in bad shape and the match was never able to live up to the extremely high expectations that people had from it. Nevertheless, it was a solid match and it deserves a spot here.

Last but not least, I want to thank JD and Steam (over on Wackbag) for helping me compile the list of matches and promos that are going to be posted here in the future at least in reference to Michaels.

Fatal 4 Way Preview

Welcome to another unnecessarily themed PPV, where absolutely nothing of significance will take place, and the fans will be robbed of their money. If you are thinking of buying this PPV for some reason, and if you value my opinion at all, I would advise you to save your money for something better. Go buy a videogame (I hear Red Dead Redemption is pretty good), see a movie, buy a book or do something else rather than give Vince McMahon your hard earned money.

There are so many problems with this PPV, but let's start with the build up to the Fatal 4 Way Match themselves. Both main events have been overshadowed by the event taking place on the respective shows, thus the the Fatal 4 Way Matches have just became an after thought. As atrocious as Smackdown has been lately, they have at least managed to keep the Kane/Undertaker vegetative state storyline relevant to the World Heavyweight Championship picture, which is more than I could say for Raw. The "A" show's main event doesn't have any tension between the superstars as they are banding together to fight against the threat presented by the former NXT Superstars. Where is the build up to the actual match and why the fuck should the audience care? Also, there are only 5 matches scheduled for this show, one of which is a Divas Fatal 4 Way Match. Are you kidding me? You leave off performers the caliber of Chris Jericho and Christian off the PPV card with only 6 matches. How fucking stupid is this company? You can't come up with something for the guy who basically carried your flagship show for an entire year. I hope Jericho's reality show proves to be a massive hit, so he could leave this retarded company. As for Christian, I have resigned myself to the fact that he will never be pushed, and while it makes me extremely sad, I don't get as angry about him losing to the piece of shit known as Vance Archer, anymore. Not pushing him for a World title is one thing, but leaving him off several PPVs is just a slap in the face. I'm sure the WWE will fill time on the card by having the NXT rookies make an appearance, Barrett and gang can kidnap and beat the shit out of someone else, and have nothing happen happen to them, since choking someone with their own tie is considered more violent. Go fuck yourselves, WWE....

Eve (Champion) vs. Maryse vs. Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox
Fatal 4 Way (Divas Championship)
Aizaz - Who gives a flying fuck? Certainly not creative, since they haven't come up anything decent decent for the Divas division is years. I could see Alicia Fox winning the Butterfuly, since they have been pushing her, but I don't see it happening on this PPV.

Predicted Winner - Eve

Johnny C
- I've
explained my stance on WWE Divas' wrestling; releasing Mickie releases my interest.

Winner: And NEW CHAMPION GAIL KIM (Because I have her autograph)

Kofi Kingston (Champion) vs. Drew "Bucket of Jizz" McIntyre
Singles Match for the Intercontinental Championship
Aizaz - It is with a lot of pride and pleasure that I bring you the rumor that supposedly Vince and the higher ups have soured on the Bucket of AIDS known as Drew McIntyre. Hopefully, that means that this waste of everyone's time will not be pushed as hard anymore. I will bet's Johnny C's life that Matt Hardy will somehow interfere in this match, and somehow cost Drew the title. Of course, the opposite could occur as well, Hardy unintentionally costs Kofi the title, while Drew and Matt feud over the IC belt. I really hope the latter scenario doesn't come true, since Smackdown is bad enough already, but it's a possibility since Kofi is the one featured on the upcoming Money in the Bank PPV poster (below), which could signify a push for Kofi into the World Title picture. Nevertheless, I'm going to pick Kofi to retain, since a McIntyre/Hardy feud would be beyond painful to endure, and Christian was featured on the Fatal 4 Way poster.

Predicted Winner - Kofi Kingston retains the Intercontinental Championship

Johnny C - Month after month I have to talk about Drew McIntired, and nothing has changed: he's a mind numbing, seat filler. If Malenko and Benoit were "vanilla," Drew is sour cream. Bryan Danielson is fired while Drew is challenging for the Intercontinental Championship? That epitomizes the problem with WWE. I'm sick and tired of watching sports entertainment swallow pro wrestling with its corporate jaws chewing on the realism of sport and monopolozing tongue slurping away the creativity and passion of the wrestlers. I watch wrestling for athleticism, intensity, blood, and triumph, not cheesy skits and homogenized "entertainment." Jim Cornette shouldn't be alerted to the authorities for his opinions, he should be elected President of the wrestling community. People like Drew and Rob Terry are hogging the spotlight rather than allowing superstars like Daniels and Danielson to steal it. Kofi Kingston's breakout year was 2009; however, he's been stripped of his momentum in order to focus on time wasting celebrity guests, Scary Movie 4 quality skits, and white gloved referees wiping away a little drizzle of blood. Kofi is an original, talented, high flyer who connects with fans of all ages due to his positive demeanor and athletic prowess. Fans of all continents should embrace Kofi as their fighting champion.

Winner:
and STILL CHAMPION KOFI KINGSTON

The Miz (Champion) vs. R-Truth Singles Match for the United States Championship
Aizaz - Why couldn't the Fatal 4 Way from Monday Night take place on the PPV? You would get John Morrison (one of the most over midcarders on Raw) and Zack Ryder (a talented heel and the show is taking place in Long Island, which is Ryder's hometown) on the PPV. It would have provided the audience with the superior match, and gotten the crowd more involved. Oh wait, I know why this match is going to take place on the PPV. It's because the WWE overreacted and fired Bryan Danielson. Now, it wouldn't make sense for the Miz to be in the NXT Invasion storyline, so they had to come up with something else for him. Once again, I applaud your decision making abilities, WWE. I see Miz retaining, since they have nothing else for him.

Predicted Winner - The Miz retains the United States Championship

Johnny C - Completely boggles the mind...Miz loses the U.S. Championship to Bret Hart who clearly can't wrestle any longer...one match features Truth capture the U.S. Championship...then loses it to the Miz. This begs the question: WHY HAVE MIZ LOSE THE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE FIRST FUCKING PLACE!? Frequent title changes only diminish the championships! Why should I care who wins if they could lose the belt on free TV Monday night?

Winner: Not the wrestlers, nor the fans, and definitely not the championship

Jack Swagger (Champion) vs. Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio
Fatal 4 Way for the World Heavyweight Championship
Aizaz - Let's be honest here, Big Show is not going to win the title and Lawler has a better shot of knowing the name of the Smackdown guys (Totally stole that off John) than Rey does of winning the World Heavyweight Championship again. Punk should be the champion (best promo guy, most fascinating character in the WWE) but Swagger needs to win here. they have had him lose on Smackdown far too much for him not to retain the title. Last but not least, I wonder how Kane is going to factor in all of this. He is pretty much the focal point of Smackdown right now, and I wonder if he somehow can win the title here or if they wait for another month or so.

Predicted Winner - Jack Swagger retains the World Heavyweight Champion

Johnny C
- Big Show was a dud at WrestleMania 16 and he'll remain a dud here. Mysterio was the worst pushed champion in WWE history; therefore, he's an afterthought. Punk has been rolling with the Straight Edge Society, but Kane is becoming a threat. Jack Swagger is still performing well and can only improve with time.

Winner: And STILL YOUR WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION CHAMPION JACK SWAGGER

John Cena (Champion) vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs Sheamus
Fatal 4 Way for the WWE CHampionship
Aizaz - A couple of weeks ago if you had asked me who I thought would be winning the WWE title, I would have gone with Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior was the guy who was being groomed to replace Batista, he lost to Evan Bourne and he had to get rewarded for that. I thought a title reign would do the job, but with the recent NXT invasion, I'm going to (sigh) once again pick John Cena to win. If they are serious about pushing Barrett (to their credit they seem to be) then Cena is going to to retain here. I wouldn't be surprised if Bret Hart had signed the NXT rookies to a contract by the end of the night, and post match Barett and company will attack the victorious John Cena. All of this leads up to a match at Summerslam where Wade Barrett gets crowned the new WWE Champion.

Predicted Winner - John Cena

Johnny C -
John Cena vs. Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd, Two Face, Lex Luthor, Osama Bin Laden, Hurricane Katrina, Satan, and Girl Scouts on PMS

Winner: John Cena

Into the Wrestling Vault: Father's Day Edition

Happy Father's Day, everyone! If you are lucky enough to have a good relationship with your father, then go out and celebrate the day with him. Go watch a baseball game, drink some beer, maybe fish. Shit, just do something the two of you enjoy doing together. For those of you who are big enough scumbags to put your father in a nursing home.... I say go fuck yourselves, but please do find time in your "busy" schedules to visit your father.

Those of who don't have such a good relationship with your father, we have got you covered on this Father's Day. Most sites will have some kind of touchy, heart warming story of parental love. However, on Vintage Blogs, we shit all over these Pursuit of Happiness moments. In honor of Father's Day, we bring you a father who will make your issues with daddy seem trivial. Sure, the old man might have belted you one too many times, but at least he didn't make you kiss his ass on a national stage. If you are a woman (What in fuck's name are you doing on a wrestling site?) just consider yourself happy that daddy didn't give you bruises all over your body a couple of days before your wedding. If you haven't figured it out by now, we are talking about VINCENT KENNEDY MCMAHON!

What I said above is all true, at Wrestlemania 22 Shane McMahon was forced to kiss his father's ass on a national stage. Think about that, Shane found out somewhere in the back that he would kiss his father's ass on the grandest stage of them all. The next time you decide to bitch and moan about your old man just think about that....Whatever else he may have said or done, he never made you kiss his ass. The Stephanie McMahon bruises story is true as well. In storyline, Vince and Steph were feuding on Smackdown and it would culminate in a match on a PPV. In real life, Stephanie was set to get married to her fiance, Paul Levesque aka Triple H. After her match, Daddy's Little Princess, had bruises all over her body on her wedding.....No awkwardness during that wedding night! Oh and if that wasn't enough, Vince McMahon actually forced his daughter to stop wearing a bra when she came out on TV. But there's more.... Vincent Kennedy McMahon actually proposed an angle involving incest with his daughter. The plan called to have Steph and Triple H's kid revealed to be a byproduct of incest between Vince and Steph. There is some wholesome family entertainment for you.

The lesson: Thank whatever deity you believe in that Vincent Kennedy McMahon isn't your father.

Now on to the videos.

The first match is Shane McMahon vs Vincent McMahon at Wrestlemania X-Seven. Lot of lovely family memories here.

The second one is the aforesaid match between Vincent McMahon and his daughter Stephanie McMahon. Because nothing says "I love you" to your daughter more than choking her.

Happy Fathers Day!

Finn Jones as Loras Tyrell in HBO's Game of Thrones

A couple of days ago there was a rumor on Winter is Coming that Finn Jones has been cast as Loras Tyrell aka The Knight of Flowers (pictured right).

Today, George RR Martin confirmed the casting. Here is what he had to say on the decision to go with Jones.
Jones is a talented young British actor whose previous credits include the long-running British soap opera HOLLYOAKS and a cop show called THE BILL. I haven't seen either of those myself, but I have seen Finn's audition for Ser Loras (the scene where Loras confront Jaime and Brienne at the gates of the Red Keep), which was terrific.
Most of you are probably asking yourselves: Who the fuck is Finn Jones? And indeed that's a very good question to ask. The new Loras Tyrell is a 22 year old British actor, who is best known for his role in the popular British soap opera, "Hollyoaks". He originally appeared in the spinoff of "Hollyoaks" known as "Hollyoaks Later". Apparently, the guy was a good enough actor that they decided to promote him to the original soap, which is a good indication that Benioff, Weiss, and Gold (executive producers and casting director) have got themselves a good actor for Loras. Look wise, he seems to match Loras pretty well. His age shouldn't be a point of concern, since it's not a big deal, in Hollywood, to see an older actor playing a younger role just look at Brandon T Jackson (26) played a 16 year old in Percy Jackson. Jones looks young enough (pictured below) for Loras, which is a good thing considering youth is a big part of Loras' character.

Also, here is some of his work from "Hollyoaks"

Update - First clip got pulled by the user on Youtube's behest. Here are some clips of his work from "Hollyoaks Later"

Finn Jones is the first one to be officially signed, and Martin sheds a bit of light on the casting process.
I should mention, by the way, that the earlier report of Finn Jones' casting was somewhat premature. At the time the news leaked out, via tweet, Jones had been cast and had been approved by HBO, but the deal had not yet closed. In fact, it was not until this morning that HBO officially informed me that the deal was set. Which is why nothing has been said until now. You have to understand the way the process works, folks. Many audition, they are winnowed down to a few finalists, a choice is finally made after much internal discussion and weighing of alternatives, the choice is submitted to HBO for approval, approval is given (or sometimes, rarely, not -- in which case it is back to square one)... and then negotiations begin with the actor's agents.

But not every deal closes. Sometimes you can't get together on the money. Sometimes there is a problem with the dates and shooting schedule. Sometimes, in between the audition and the callback and the final offer, the actor gets another job... a movie or another TV show (you and I may think it mad, but truth is, most actors would prefer, say, a lead in another production to a supporting part in ours)... and elects to take that instead. Lots of things can happen.
Though Martin tells us to take the rumors with a grain of salt, I should mention that so far the casting rumors have been very accurate. Mo Ryan and Winter is Coming reported the castings of Sean Bean and Lena Headey far before sites like Hollywood Reporter. In fact, there hav e been rumblings that HBO was so unhappy with the leaks that they have been extra cautious with this particular project. Up until now it seemed to work, but Jones kinda ruined it by tweeting about it. Also it's interesting to see that the tweet seems to have disappeared right after he accidentally leaked the news. Martin and HBO can try as hard as possible to dissuade rumors, but the A Song of Ice an Fire fan base will sniff out any significant news that pertains to Game of Thrones.

And as Martin continues, it looks like won't to wait much longer for more casting news.
There should be more casting news soon, by the way. Another five or six parts have been cast and approved... but the negotiations are still ongoing with the actors in question and their representatives, so I will say no more. You'll have to wait. (But David and Dan and Nina have found some great people, so the wait will be well worth it).
Look, I'm excited about Jones' casting, but it mostly has to do with the fact that we finally get another bit of casting news. However, I anticipate the casting announcement for characters like, Littlefinger (one of my favorites), Bronn, Pycelle, and Tywin, far more fervently. And it looks like we might be closer to getting them.

Can't wait to see more of Winter come to HBO!

Update # 2- Jones reacts on his twitter page on getting cast as the Loras Tyrell
Thanks for the supportive tweets! I’m a HUGE fan of the books, it’s such a privilege to be able to bring one of GRRMs characters to life, especially The Knight of Flowers, BRING IT ON!

Another fan of the books gets cast. if you are a fan of the books, and act as a profession, you might as well go out and try... So far Daenerys and Loras (both actors were fans of the books) have gotten roles.

Into the Wrestling Vault: Shawn Michaels vs Marty Jannetty (Intercontinental Championship Part 2)

Both Johnny C and I have made our hatred and dismay over the Linda McMahon induced PG-Era and overall state of wrestling well known. So join me as I delve into the Wrestling Vault to relive my favorite videos.

After Michaels lost the Intercontinental Championship , he did what any good heel does: got himself an insurance police. For the Heartbreak Kid that insurance policy came in hulking form of a 7 ft giant by the name of Diesel. Kevin Nash (Diesel's real anme) worked for WCW, but Michaels *Nash's real life friend) convinced the big man to ditch WCW and sign a contract with the WWF. Nash agreed and debuted, at a House Show, as Michaels bodyguard. Coincidentally, that was the night that Michaels won back the Intercontinental Championship from Jannetty. A couple of weeks later Jannetty got his rematch on Raw. However, he didn't just have to fight Michaels, the former Rocker had to deal with Showstopper's insurance policy and that's easier said than done.

Last but not least, I want to thank JD and Steam (over on Wackbag) for helping me compile the list of matches and promos that are going to be posted here in the future at least in reference to Michaels.

Sign the Petition to Bring Bryan Danielson back to the WWE

I have waited such a long time to do this post, because I really wanted the Danielson releasing to be a work. Hell, I even tuned in towards the end of Monday Night Raw hoping against all hope that Danielson would somehow show up. Guess, I expected too much. I won't say I'm done with the WWE, but they did kill off any excitement I had for this NXT invasion angle.

This is one one of the stupidest moves, I have ever seen from the WWE. They just wasted the entire Miz/Danielson feud, and killed off the momentum of the NXT angle. Really, Danielson should have been the focal of the Invasion angle, he is best wrestler in the group, has the most credibility (even if the WWE tries to murder it) and had the most presence out of any of the NXT rookies. While watching the Invasion, Danielson was the guy who stood out, and it wasn't just because he choked Roberts with the latter's tie. Danielson stood out because of the intensity, the ferocity and the realism of his actions. Now, the most important part of the NXT invasion is gone, and I for one think it is doomed. Furthermore, if Cole was going to be the mastermind of the NXT Invasion (I sadly think that is the case) then the writers are going to have to come up with something else instead of whatever they were going to use with Cole and Danielson.

Oh and let's not forget the fact Bryan Danielson's segments with Cole were easily the best things that WWE has put on television in the previous year. His reward: getting released. What kind of message does that send to your performers? It doesn't matter that you were doing an absolutely stellar job, we are going to treat you like a piece of dog shit and release you. I guarantee you that no up and coming WWE superstar is going to try and improvise anymore, since they are going to be scared to lose their fucking job. WWE wants Superstars, yet they set a precedent of discouraging creativity from their stars. Good Luck creating stars that way....

Just a terrible case of overreacting by Vince, I miss the Vince who claimed he had the biggest grapefruits. Apparently, Linda, her senate run committee, and Mattell has cut them off and Vince gladly sold them. Enough of this PG, advertisers pandering asshole, I want the Vince McMahon who fucking intimidated and owned Bob Costas on the midget's own show.

If the overreaction wasn't bad enough, I was treated to a hypocrisy of epic proportions on Monday Night Raw. The PG WWE showed a man who legitimately suffered from a stroke getting kidnapped, assaulted, run into cars, extorted and threatened. No one called Vince in that fucking situation. Why wasn't the driver fired? Why weren't the rest of the NXT members fired as well? What a bunch of fucking hypocrites!

This isn't worse than what happened to Bret

Now that the poison is somewhat out of my system, I would ask that you sign the petition to to reinstate Bryan Danielson. I will be honest with you guys, I have never been a huge sign an online petition, but even I signed it. Why? Because this one actually has a chance to actually accomplish something. Earlier in an interview today, John Cena said this to say about Danielson's firing.
I have to ask this, and if you can't answer it, that's completely fine. You recently made some interesting comments on your Twitter and there's been a lot of speculation about Bryan Danielson's release, and I feel there's been a lot of incorrect info. Can you speak about that at all -- is this legitimate? And what did you mean when you said how upset you were about his release?

Well, the release is legitimate. It was something that I don't understand. It's something that a lot of people are upset about. This is one of those things where ... you know, WWE is a business, and they chose to make a business decision. I think what is right for the WWE Universe to do is show that they have a bit of power. If they really feel so strongly about this subject -- the consumer has the largest voice here, and if they were really serious they should organize their efforts and put forth some body of work. I've even signed petitions to reinstate Bryan Danielson. But if they can get enough numbers to say, 'Listen, we would like this person back on WWE.' Like I said, they made a business decision, but at the same time, they can't deny good business. So if you get 200,000 consumers saying, 'Listen, we'd like to see this person on television,' I don't think the bean counters are gonna ignore the potential dollar signs. I just think all it takes is, all those people to organize under one roof and say, 'Listen, this is how we want to act,' because the uproar you're talking about, I have no spectrum about how big the size is.
According to Johny Boy, if 200,000 people sign the petition, the WWE will have to look. While, I don't know the exact number of the Internet Wrestling Community, I do think that there are a lot of us and best part is that we are all unanimous when it comes to Danielson's unjust firing. I have seen no one try to defend the WWE in this situation, and that gives me hope that this petition might just reach the 200,000 goal. In just the few days, the petition has gotten 15,207 (as I'm writing this) signatures, if you sign, pass around the link and get others to sign....we can make our voice be heard.

Support Bryan Danielson and sign the petition

Though Michaels lost to Tatanka (via countout) at Wrestlemania IX, his work was far from over that night. The Heartbreak kid attacked Mr. Perfect later on that night, and the two began a feud. What does this have to do with Michaels vs Jannetty? Mr. Perfect was ringside when Michaels defended his Intercontinental Championship against his former partner, and Michael's feud with Hennig caught up with. However, before Mr. Perfect could cost Michaels, the Showstopper's own mouth got him into trouble. In an interview with Vince McMahon, Michaels claimed eh would defend his title anytime, any place, and against anyone. Just as Michaels was boasting of his courage...... out came his former partner Marty Jannetty from the crowd.* Jannetty cornered Michaels and asked if his former tag team partner was truly a man of his world. Cornered, Michaels reluctantly agreed and fell prey to his arrogance, previous betrayals and his won mouth.

*On a side note.... What is it with the shitty half of good teams and returning from the crowd. First, Jannetty and now Matt Hardy has made it a habit.

Last but not least, I want to thank JD and Steam (over on Wackbag) for helping me compile the list of matches and promos that are going to be posted here in the future at least in reference to Michaels.
